We’ve created a quiet, comfortable home where each resident has their own private room and familiar routines. With just ten residents and a warm, supportive team, daily life here feels calm, personal, and predictable.

At The Gardens at San Carlos, feeling at home isn't just an idea—it's something we work toward every single day. We get to know each resident's routines, preferences, and personal history from the moment they arrive. From the familiar TV shows playing in the living room to personalized birthday meals, we build a setting that feels less like care and more like family. That's what it means to truly feel at home here.
Personal Care
With just ten residents, our caregivers have the time and space to build real relationships—providing thoughtful, attentive care that simply isn't possible in larger settings.
An Easier Transition
A small, residential environment is proven to ease the adjustment to senior care. Familiar surroundings, fewer new faces, and a calm routine help residents settle in with confidence and comfort.
Relationships
Families enjoy direct access to Angela and our management team—no corporate layers or phone trees. When something matters, you can reach someone who knows your loved one and can actually help.

Hi, I’m Angela Kuehn, Resident Services Manager at The Gardens at San Carlos. I’ve spent over ten years in senior care, growing from hands-on caregiving into a role focused on supporting both residents and families. What began as a job became a true calling rooted in compassion and respect. As a mother and grandmother, I know how important trust is, and I’m committed to helping every resident feel safe, comfortable, and truly cared for each day.
The Gardens is locally owned and operated, and that matters. In large corporate communities, residents can get lost in the shuffle. Here, every resident is a person with a story, not a room number. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one will truly be known and cared for, I’d love to meet you.

Hi, I’m Tiphney DelPrado, and I’m often the first person families speak with when they reach out to The Gardens. I’m here to make the process feel easier—answering questions, learning about your loved one’s needs, and helping you navigate next steps with clarity and confidence.
My goal is to make sure every family feels supported and informed along the way. Whether you’re just beginning your search or getting settled at The Gardens, I’m always here to listen, guide, and help however I can. It’s a privilege to walk alongside families during such an important transition.
Fantastic! So difficult when a loved one enters into assisted living. The people at the Gardens at San Carlos are all angels! My husband was there for nearly three years, I was welcomed every day, and was even allowed to bring his dog!

Most amazing establishment that I've seen an many years.

We offer assisted living, memory care, and respite care in a warm, residential setting. Our home is a great fit for individuals who need support with daily activities—like bathing, dressing, mobility, or medication management—and may be living with dementia or Alzheimer's at any stage. We're licensed through the full continuum of care in Arizona, from personal to directed care, and are equipped to support residents through the end of life.
We do have a few situations that aren't the right fit: anyone who self-harms or poses a danger to others, individuals requiring IV antibiotics or ongoing skilled nursing that home health cannot provide. Elopement risk can sometimes be accommodated—we encourage families to bring it up during a care assessment so we can evaluate fit together. If you’re unsure whether your loved one’s needs align with our care level, just give us a call—we’re happy to talk it through with you.
Unlike large, institutional settings, The Gardens offers care in a peaceful, single-story home where everything is intentionally simple, familiar, and easy to navigate. There are no elevators, no confusing hallways, and no long lists of new faces to learn.
For residents with memory loss, this makes a big difference. The smaller scale helps reduce confusion, ease anxiety, and lower the risk of agitation that sometimes happens during transitions in larger environments. Residents quickly get to know their caregivers and surroundings, which supports a calmer, more stable adjustment.
All caregivers at The Gardens are certified through the Arizona Nursing Board and hold CPR, First Aid, fingerprint clearance, and food handler's credentials. They also complete a state-approved memory care training course. Our on-site administrator has extensive training in dementia care—including the Montessori approach—and provides ongoing, hands-on mentorship to our team that goes well beyond what the state requires. Training here isn’t a one-time checklist—it’s an ongoing part of how we care.
We hire every team member based on personality and interpersonal quality as much as credentials. We look for caregivers who are naturally patient, observant, and warm—people who know how to read a resident's needs and respond with genuine kindness. That combination of rigorous training and intentional hiring is what sets our team apart.
Pricing at The Gardens is designed to be clear and personalized based on your loved one’s needs. Monthly rates vary depending on the type of room, accommodations, and the level of assistance required with daily activities. Because every resident’s situation is a little different, we review care needs and room preferences together to provide an accurate estimate.
Short-term respite care and in-home care are also available with separate pricing structures.
